As soon as you get up in the morning take a glass of lemon juice with salt, jeera and mentya (Fenugreek). Taking fresh fruits and vegetables in the form of salad for breakfast is very good for health. Add some sprouts and lemon juice. If you take this breakfast regularly, your skin will gain a natural shine and you won’t need any makeup.  Taking enough green leaves, figs, mustard and milk will make your bones strong. Small accidents will not be able to harm your bones.
Some people avoid nuts thinking that they are high in calories and rich in fats. But actually nuts contain unsaturated fats which help reduce the bad cholesterol and increase the good cholesterol in the blood. Those who eat nuts regularly die of heart attack. Anti oxidants present in nuts help reduce the risk of cancer. Nuts have plenty of proteins, vitamin B & E, zinc, calcium and Magnesium. If you eat a mixture of different types of nuts, you will get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.
The fiber and fat in nuts is helpful in treatment of diabetes and in protection against heart problems. Nuts are also beneficial in cure of constipation, varicose veins and in reducing the risk of breast and prostrate cancer.
Herbs are leaves of aromatic plants which are rich in nutrients and minerals. They are used to cure cold, flue, cough, pain and throat infection.

You get so much energy at low cost. Tender coconut water has potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus and iron. It is a life tonic.
Vegetables or fruits should be washed before cutting to save losing vitamins.

During summer, lemon juice with honey is very good to keep the body cool and healthy. Grapes have anti oxidants which help reduce cholesterol in the body.
Leafy vegetables are low in calories and fat but high in proteins, dietary fibre, iron and calcium. They are very high in phytochemicals like vitamin C, cartenoids, lutein and folic acid.
Raw food is the only source of living enzymes. Consumption of raw fruits and vegetables strengthens the immune system which is body’s defence system against diseases and cancer. This is strongly related to enzymes present in raw food.
All fruits and vegetables have different beautiful colours and smells. They are good to look, good to taste, good to smell, pleasing to the mind and also good for our body. It is good to select fruits of different colours for our diet as different fruits and vegetables have different nutrients. Let us see what the colours of the fruit or vegetable tell us about the nutrients found in it.

Are you ashamed of BAD BREATH?

Chapter 30
BAD BREATH

Smelly mouth: Some times bad smell comes out of the mouth of some people when they breathe out. Many people are not even aware of it. To test, just hold your palm over your mouth and nose and breathe out through mouth. Smell the air coming out of your mouth.
Mouth is said to be the mirror of disease. If you have a disease, it can be seen by looking at your mouth or smelling your mouth. But sometimes even healthy people have bad breath. This is called Halitosis. According to studies conducted at least 4 out of 10 Indians have bad breath.

Reasons for bad breath:
1.         Mouth: Sometimes the bad breathe originates in the mouth itself. This is worse in the morning when you get up since whole night the mouth is dry. The smell disappears or becomes less after you brush your teeth or wash your mouth with a mouthwash. During the day the intensity of the smell differs due to the food you take (garlic, onion, whisky, fish, smoking, etc).
2.         Tongue: particles of food remains in the backside of the tongue even after you have swallowed the food. Bacteria thrive in this place.  Soon this bacterium gives out bad smell. You can clean your tongue using a tongue cleaner or tooth brush.
3.         Gum disease: Food particles get deposited on the gumline (where the teeth and gum meet). This is a good place for the bacteria to grow and produce bad smell. Make sure you brush your teeth or wash your mouth after each meal.
4.         Nose: Sometimes bad smell comes out of the nose. This can be due to sinus problem.
5.         Stomach: If a person has a belching problem, bad smell can come out during belching. Our food tube is a closed and collapsed tube and hence normally a continuous flow of bad smell cannot take place here. It is wrongly believed that a bad stomach can be the cause of bad breath.
Bad breathe can spoil your relationship with your spouse, friends or business partners. It can lead to stress.

Cure:
1.         Eating healthy breakfast of raw food will help clean the back of your tongue.
2.         Cleaning the tongue with a brush or tongue cleaner twice a day.
3.         Gargling with a good mouth wash before sleep.
4.         Drinking more water daily.
5.         Washing the mouth after eating any food.

Meditation helps give up DRUGS

Chapter 29
DRUGS

There is one more thing that is more dangerous than alcohol and that is drugs. In the modern age more and more teenage children are falling for drugs. It usually starts with smoking with friends. Slowly the friend introduces the drugs. Once the person is addicted to drugs, he can come out of it only if he makes up his mind that he wants to come out. Even the rehabilitation centers cannot help much if the patient does not want to give up drugs.
Drugs ruin not only the person who takes put also the people who love and care for him. Very often people start using drugs to get away from a problem. Drugs like heroine and cocaine make you an addict very quickly. Soon you fine yourself craving for it in spite of knowing that it is harmful. Drugs damage not just the body but also the brain. Their interest in food, sex and social interaction reduces. The mind is all the time busy planning how to get more drugs.
The first thing to do as soon as you realize that you want to give up taking drugs is to stop meeting those friends of yours who take drugs. Make new friends.  Keep yourself busy with some job or the other so that your mind does not remind you of the drug. Read about the side affects of taking drugs in books or the internet.
Tell your parents that you are trying to give up drugs so that they will give you moral support. This will boost your will power to continue fighting the want.
You can even take a hypnotherapy treatment. This will put positive thoughts in your mind and remove the thoughts of drugs. Start attending spiritual lectures and understand the meaning of life.
Learn yoga and meditation. This will help strengthen your mind. A strong mind will never fall prey to drugs.
